Es el momento de valorar la selección de canciones de este Rock Band 2 , sin duda la parte más importante de un juego de estas características. Todas son versiones originales, a diferencia del primer Rock Band.

¿Qué decir? Sobre gustos no hay nada escrito, pero a nosotros nos parece excelente. Los responsables del juego han demostrado un gusto excelente con la incorporación de temas de los cuatro pilares del grunge y clasicazos como el "Aqualung" de Jethro Tull, "Pinball Wizard" de The Who y ese himno del rock alternativo que es "Teen Age Riot" de Sonic Youth, una de las más difíciles a la batería. Foo Fighters, los Smashing, Bob Dylan y AC/DC completan uno de los mejores repertorios vistos hasta la fecha, si no el mejor. Su argumento es la variedad, tanto de estilos como de épocas.

De todas formas, nunca está de más ampliar un poco la lista. Pare ello podemos importar 55 canciones del primer Rock Band (o del dedicado a AC/DC) gracias a una herramienta que hay en el Bazar o darnos un paseo por la tienda y descargar temas sueltos, paquetes y hasta discos enteros a un precio más que razonable. El juego también permite descargar 20 temas gratis, todo un detalle, aunque no sean muy conocidos. El contenido descargable se actualiza a menudo y es de mucha calidad, a excepción de alguna que otra versión no muy aconsejable. Bowie, The Cult, Nirvana… lo mejor es entrar y verlo.
